Argon-Ion Laser Vs Quartz-Tungsten-Halogen Curing of Polyacid Modified Composite Resin Restorative Materials

چکیده
Recently, there has been an interest in using an argon laser to initiate polymerization of light-activated materials [11]. The argon laser, the active medium of which is argon gas, produces light at two wavelengths. The 488 nm blue light is commonly used to initiate the polymerization of restorative composite materials. The 514 nm blue green light has maximum absorbance in tissues that are composed of pigmented molecules such as hemosiderin and melanin. Both wavelengths of the argon laser are poorly absorbed by non-pigmented and hard tissues [12].

Influence of photo-activation source on enamel demineralization around restorative materials.
This study evaluated the effects of the photoactivation source and restorative material on the development of caries-like lesions on human enamel after an in vitro pH challenge. Enamel cavities were prepared in 36 blocks, which were assigned to two groups according to the restorative material: resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) and composite resin (CR). Samples were exposed to quartz-tungsten-...

Resin Composites Sandwich restorations and Curing techniques Anders Lindberg, Department of Dental Hygienist Education, Faculty of Medicine, Umeå University, 901 87 Umeå, Sweden. Since the mid-1990s resin composite has been used for Class II restorations in stress-bearing areas as an alternative to amalgam. Reasons for this were the patients’ fear of mercury in dental amalgam and a growing dema...
متن کاملCompressive strength of esthetic restorative materials polymerized with quartz-tungsten-halogen light and blue LED.
This study compared the compressive strength of a composite resin and compomer photoactivated with a conventional quartz-tungsten halogen-light (XL 3000, 3M/SPE) and a blue light-emitting diode (LED) (SmartLite PS; Dentsply/De Trey). Forty disc-shaped specimens were prepared using a split polytetrafluoroethylene matrix (4.0 mm diameter x 8.0 mm hight) in which the materials were inserted increm...
متن کاملEffect of photoactivation systems and resin composites on the microleakage of esthetic restorations.
AIM The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of four photoactivation systems [quartz tungsten halogen (QTH), light-emitting diode (LED), argon ion laser (AL), and plasma arc curing PAC)] on cementum/dentin and enamel microleakage of Class II restorations using a microhybrid [Z250-3M ESPE] and two packable composites [(SureFil-Dentsply and Tetric Ceram HB-Ivoclair/Vivadent]. METHODS...
متن کاملTemperature changes under demineralized dentin during polymerization of three resin-based restorative materials using QTH and LED units
OBJECTIVES Light-curing of resin-based materials (RBMs) increases the pulp chamber temperature, with detrimental effects on the vital pulp. This in vitro study compared the temperature rise under demineralized human tooth dentin during light-curing and the degrees of conversion (DCs) of three different RBMs using quartz tungsten halogen (QTH) and light-emitting diode (LED) units (LCUs). MATER...
